Pueri Cantores
American Festival

Washington, D.C.
July Fourth Weekend, 2008

"You are the little messengers of beauty. The world needs your singing, for the language of beauty moves hearts and contributes to the encounter with God."
- Pope John Paul II
in an address to Pueri Cantores International

Group on Capitol Steps The mission of the American Federation Pueri Cantores is to bring together choirs of boys and girls throughout the United States to sing the Peace of God. In July of 2008, the American Federation is inviting all member choruses to gather in Washington, D.C. to fulfill this mission at its inaugural Pueri Cantores American Festival.

The festival will consist of Catholic youth choirs from across the country joining together in song for a Mass in the largest Catholic Basilica in the Western Hemisphere, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. This grand celebration of song will take place over July Fourth Weekend.

Immaculate Conception In addition to rehearsals and performances, this musical pilgrimage will provide opportunities to visit important landmarks in Washington, D.C., including the Capitol Building, the Kennedy Center, the monuments and memorials on the National Mall, the Smithsonian Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, and more. Choirs are also being invited to sing a special patriotic performance before the annual Capitol Fourth celebration.
