Jo-Michael Scheibe is Professor and Chair of Choral and Sacred Music at the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California. He was previously Professor and Program Director of Choral Studies at the University of Miami, Florida. At Miami, he conducted the Frost Chorale, coordinated the choral program, and taught undergraduate and graduate conducting. His choirs have sung at state, regional, and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference, as well as various performances with artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras, Marvis Martin, Salvatore Licitra, Maria Guleghina and Kenny Loggins.. Walton, Colla Voce Music and Santa Barbara distribute his Choral Series internationally. His ensembles are recorded on the Albany, Cane, Naxos, and ANS labels.
Dr. Scheibe received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from California State University at Long Beach, and his D.M.A. from the University of Southern California. Before the University of Miami, he was Director of Choral Studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Dr. Scheibe is an active member in the American Choral Directors Association and has served as Western Division President, and National Repertoire and Standards Chairperson. He is a member of Chorus America, The International Federation of Choral Music and several other professional and education organizations. He is in frequent demand internationally as a clinician, conductor, and adjudicator.
