Commemorating the life and music of Franz Joseph Haydn during the
200th Anniversary of his passing
June 27 – July 1, 2009

Music Celebrations International is pleased to announce the Haydn International Youth Choral Festival. This festival will be under the direction of Dr. Lynne Gackle in Vienna’s famed Konzerthaus and in the world-famous Haydnsaal in the Esterházy Estate – home to Haydn for nearly three decades. The festival, which is an official event of the Haydn 2009 anniversary year, will feature outstanding treble (SA) and mixed (SATB) choirs from across North America and Europe.
To Mozart he was a fatherly friend, Beethoven was his most famous student. Joseph Haydn was a very beloved
person, esteemed by his contemporaries, diligent, humorous, affable, and a straight shooter who was not spoiled
by his steep climb from humble conditions into the highest social circles. In Vienna’s Haydn Park, a memorial
plaque with the inscription "I will not die completely" can be found, a tribute to Haydn’s life and works.
