Dr. Daniel G. Monek is an Associate Professor of Music and chair of the Edward E. MacTaggart Music department at Marietta College where he directs the Concert Choir, Women’s Choir, Oratorio Chorus, Men’s Ensemble, and Chamber Singers. In addition to his ensemble responsibilities, Dr. Monek teaches applied voice, conducting, and music history. He has received his Ph.D. in Music from Edinburgh University (Scotland) and holds degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of South Florida and the University of Florida. Dr. Monek has taught music in Florida’s public schools and was the founding Artistic and Musical Director of the New Edinburgh Orchestra in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He has served as the musical director of several churches, as Secretary/Treasurer for the Florida Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, as Chairman of Scotland for the Association of the British Choral Directors, and on the board of the Central Division of the American Choral Directors Association as the editor-in-Chief of Resound, the division’s newsletter. He currently serves on the board of the Ohio Choral Directors Association as their Conference Coordinator and is also a member of the Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Educators Association, College Music Society, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the Rotary Club of Marietta, OH.
