Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival
Chicago, Illinois
March 25 – 26, 2011
Featuring Festival Clinician Col. Arnald Gabriel
Finally a festival that celebrates Percy Grainger! Music Celebrations is pleased to present the second annual Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival in Chicago’s famed Orchestra Hall. Long considered the most important composer of wind band literature, Grainger’s music is presented in the world's grandest venues to district and all-state band conferences throughout the United States.
The Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival will feature four outstanding wind ensembles conducting 25 minutes of stand-alone performances of Percy Grainger literature in an afternoon matinee performance in Chicago’s Historic Orchestra Hall. Each participating ensemble will also take part in a clinic with Col. Arnald D. Gabriel.
All band selections are made through Music Celebrations, and every effort will be made to ensure that each ensemble’s program will not overlap onto one another.
Ensembles will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve, rolling basis. Early applicants are given preference and priority.
