The National Memorial Day Parade
After many years of absence, the National Memorial Day Parade was revived for the celebration surrounding the 2004 dedication of the World War II Memorial. It was so well received that this is now an annual event. The American public knows its debt to our military veterans past and present, and this National Memorial Day Parade is an acknowledgment of the heroic deeds of our military services. Constitution Avenue along the National Mall is the setting of this celebration.
Happy Birthday, Scouts! The Boy Scouts of America, a national institution of unequaled value, will celebrate 100 Years of Scouting in 2010! The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Parade will be a ONE-TIME event on July 25th, 2010, designed to kick-off the once-every-four-year National Scout Jamboree – all part of the 100 year anniversary.
Thousands of people line Pennsylvania Avenue every four years on January 20th, waiting for the passing of the presidential motorcade during the inaugural parade. Starting with Thomas Jefferson's second inaugural, it has become tradition for the president to parade down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol Building to the White House.

The Parade itself weaves through the city center and is made up of Irish street theater companies, ceremonial groups and marching bands from around the world for an exciting carnival atmosphere.
