National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade
In 1912, over 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees were sent as a gift to Washington, D.C. by the people of Japan to symbolize the then-burgeoning friendship between the two nations.
A century later, the National Cherry Blossom Festival invites America to take part in the celebrations during March 20 - April 27, 2012 as we commemorate the once-in-a-lifetime centennial of this unique offering of friendship.
The 2012 National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is considered a paramount event during this celebration.
Thousands of people line Pennsylvania Avenue every four years on January 20th, waiting for the passing of the presidential motorcade during the inaugural parade.
