In 1912, over 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees were sent as a gift to Washington, D.C. by the people of Japan to symbolize the then-burgeoning friendship between the two nations.
A century later, the National Cherry Blossom Festival invites America to take part in the celebrations during March 20 - April 27, 2012 as we commemorate the once-in-a-lifetime centennial of this unique offering of friendship.
The 2012 National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is considered a paramount event during this celebration. The parade is an annual tradition in Washington, D.C., taking place along Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th streets, NW, and is simulcast live, in its entirety, on WJLA, ABC7 and TBD TV.
