With Advent comes opportunities to sing! During this time of the year, millions the world over get into the "Christmas spirit" by singing carols and hymns that uplift spirits and reflect on the birth of the Christ Child. Cities all throughout central Europe set up booths and stalls in their market squares where you can buy everything you need for Christmas - decorations for the tree, candles, crib figures, delicious traditional Christmas treats, and presents for Christmas Eve. And, more importantly - you can sing!
A pilgrimage tour is both spiritual and educational. Christians have always celebrated their faith by walking in areas that recall an event in the life of our Lord or in places that represent an important moment in the history of the Church. A choral pilgrimage is unlike an ordinary tourist's experience. As pilgrims, we go to see beautiful places, in a new country or locality primarily to connect us to the history of our faith. But as a singer on pilgrimage, spiritual encounters await you and the growth your choir will experience as you rehearse and prepare to sing God’s praises in some of the greatest venues on earth!
In The Footsteps of Martin Luther
2008 marks the 525th anniversary of Martin Luther's birth, and in response MCI has created itineraries that will have choirs visiting many of the locations so important in the life and times of Luther, from Eisleben to Worms to Wittenberg and Leipzig, where you will see his homes, churches, sanctuaries he used in his darkest hours, and where he translated the Bible into the vernacular.
Follow in the footsteps of the great Scottish father of the Protestant movement by visiting places he frequented and lived, including Perth, Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh
In The Footsteps of John and Charles Wesley
Continuing the excitement created with the John Wesley Tercentenary in 2003 and the Charles Wesley Tercentenary in 2007, we are pleased to offer pilgrimage tours to Britain that follows the "footsteps" of the Wesley brothers. Each year, many thousands visit the historic sites of Methodism associated with John and Charles Wesley, Francis Asbury and the early Methodists.
